Pagodas are also found at Buddhist temples, but I love photographing them so much that I've given them their own dedicated gallery right here.
At this moment, the weather impressed me more than the buildings in this part of the Todaiji Temple complex. To the left is the roof of Nigatsudo, a smaller temple on the grounds.
Temples typically don't grow crops, but this rice paddy has a purpose. The temple uses the rice to make rice cakes for ceremonies.
I'd been to Todaiji several times before, but I couldn't remember having seen this bell tower. You could spend all day exploring the extensive grounds of the temple, not just the Great Buddha Hall.
